Accolades and Internet "Fame"

taken by Cleve during our ceremony
Who would have ever thought that our little story of malaria-laced romance would have garnered so much attention!

We submitted our wedding announcement to the Times in October, and, right before our December 4th wedding, they asked us if they could do a little video about us!  We never imagined it would be so popular, but it makes us wildly happy that it IS!

Our only hope is that the attention we've caught on the New York Times, Perez Hilton, and Boingboing can be channeled to the chimps, of course, and our future work!

We did!
Our wedding was absolutely stunning, and perfect, and I nearly cried as many of my primatologist friends pant-hooted like chimpanzees in our honor!

Now that the festivities are over, it's time for us to focus on our goals for the New Year. In addition to spending a week at Harry Potter Wizarding World for our mini-honeymoon in just a few short days, we're also planning our return to Congo in March of next year, where I'll be collecting data to analyze as part of my doctoral dissertation.

I'm currently working to fundraise that next trip, and I'm looking for donations of any amount to help me with airfare, and the procurement of sampling materials!

We'd also like to encourage anyone who is interested in helping us to protect the chimpanzees we rescued in Aketi to visit the Lwiro Blog and contribute directly to Lwiro Sanctuary!

Thanks so much for your interest in our little marriage and our work in the Democratic Republic of Congo!
